Hi!  I'm so happy that you are visiting our online store.

Beauty and the Bead is now 6 years old.  (A new 5 year lease with an option for an additional 5 years was just signed.)  So we are in this for the long haul.  Whoever would have believed that what started as a little hobby to relieve the stress, tension, and misery  of being in "corporate America" would evolve into a full-time business employing 4 wonderful part-time people and keeping me "off the streets and out of trouble."  I'm excited and gratified by how the business has grown.  Our cozy little store is jam packed  with wonderful things.  From the decorative painting on the walls (which is what you see on the home page) to the hand-painted hot pink counters, mobiles and glass pieces hanging from the ceiling and all over the walls, wonderful crafts and art works  (all of which are for sale); parties, classes and hair wraps-Beauty and the Bead is all about fun and creativity.  And I haven't even mentioned our fabulous selection of beads.

Gosh.do we have beads!  Old ones, new ones; big ones, small ones in any color you can imagine.  Hand made glass, vintage German, Czech, and Japanese strands; pearls, silver, seed beads and Japanese Delicas; fimo, wood and other materials are all well represented in the shop.  Along with the beads there is an excellent selection of stringing materials, findings (in base metals, sterling silver and 14k gold filled) and a terrific collection of clasps both unique and traditional.

Beauty and the Bead is a place to find fabulous things that make you happy.  Besides all that, we have a great time too!

You are invited to browse through this first section of the catalogue, which highlights our collection of hand made beads.  Additional sections will be developed in the future.  Our lamp work collection is one of the finest anywhere. More than 50 different American glass artists are represented, with styles as different and individual as the artists themselves.

It's easy to purchase online.  Orders are processed through a totally secure server.  All information is strictly confidential and never sold.  We accept Visa, Master Card and Discover.  If you are not comfortable purchasing online, please order via e-mail, phone, fax, "regular" mail or however you choose.  I'll do my very best to make your shopping experience delightful.

Thanks again for visiting Beauty and the Bead Online.  Whenever you are in the Chicagoland area, drop by for a visit.  (Check Mapquest for directions.)  Till then, enjoy your "virtual shopping" experience and let me know what you think of our web site.

                                                                                     Cyberbeadily yours,

Carol

PS:

You may be wondering why there are so many "cat things" on the web site. After all, what do beads have to do with cats?  Well, the answer of course, is  nothing.  Here's how it happened.....about 7 years ago, when I was first beginning to sell some of my beadwork I found I needed a business name as well as a business card.  My friend Judi came up with the name "Beauty and the Bead".  (Thanks, Judi!)  Thinking about the card, I decided it should have some of my favorite things, namely cats and beads.

I have two cats, both of whom are spoiled rotten.  (Of course, I had nothing to do with that.)  Litty, the calico, is really smart, does tricks, and gives kisses. Amber, the darker cat, is lovey-dovey and gives lots of hugs.  She'd be happy if she never had to leave my lap.  (Well, only just to eat.) There are lots of cat things in the store, along with...yes...CAT BEADS.

So, my secret is out now.  I am a Cat Person!

IN MEMORIAM:
A tiny light went out today. My best pal, Litty, died at about 1:15 P.M., March 27th. She had been feeling poorly for about two weeks. Her Doctor, Dave McKenna, DVM, did what he could; but she was in severe renal failure. Litty was my friend for 20 years. I will miss her brightness, her antics and her love.

Here are pictures of Litty and Amber
